Join us for the  Big Feathers Open  on Sunday, July 18*

*Due to the significant impact of Hurricane Elsa, we have been forced to change the date and format of the Big Feathers Open this year. Spectators can still watch matches on Sunday, July 18 at 1 & 3 p.m. for $25 per carload; however, food and music will not be available following the 3 p.m. match (and, therefore, included in the ticket price). The Galvanized Jazz Band will be playing on Sunday, July 18 @ 6 p.m. but at Aunt Chilada's restaurant, where spectators are welcome to join them at their own discretion.

Tickets pre-purchased online will be refunded, and we apologize for the inconvenience.

Unlike our typical Sunday matches, the Big Feathers Open is a USPA tournament held each year at Giant Valley Polo Club to honor the memory of Giant Valley Farm's founder, Frank Butterworth, Jr., a.k.a "Big Feathers."

Because it is a tournament, the Big Feathers Open consists of several teams competing in various games (as opposed to a singular Sunday match). Consequently, on the day of the Open, the gate opens at 12 p.m. with the first match beginning at 1 p.m., followed by a second match at 3 p.m. in which the finalists vie for the coveted (and, of course, plumed) Big Feathers Trophy.

Following the 3 p.m. match, spectators are invited to join us in the tractor shed for a buffet-style dinner catered by Aunt Chilada's restaurant and featuring ~ 2 hours of music by the Galvanized Jazz Band, which begins playing at 6 p.m. Hay bale seating is provided but guests are also welcome to bring their own chairs.
